Studenti di Bergamo piloti per due settimane

Iniziativa didattico culturale realizzata dall’Aeronautica Militare

Siamo tornati nuovamente ad assistere ad uno dei Corsi di Cultura Aeronautica organizzati dal 60° Stormo di Guidonia (RM), parte del programma dei cento anni della Forza Armata ed offerti agli studenti di varie città.  L’evento questa volta è stato organizzato per gli studenti della città di Bergamo e resa possibile dalla collaborazione tra l’Aeronautica Militare, l’Ufficio Scolastico ed il comune di Bergamo.

La conferenza stampa relativa all’evento si è svolta presso l’aeroporto di Valbrembo ed ha visto gli interventi degli ufficiali responsabili (tra cui il Ten. Col. Simone De Paoli, il Col. Michele Cesario, comandante del 60° Stormo e il Gen. di S.A. Silvano Frigerio, Comandante delle Scuole). A fare gli onori di casa, Sergio Capoferri, presidente dell’aeroporto, la Prof.ssa Emanuela Facheris, dell’ Ufficio Scolastico Territoriale di Bergamo e il Dott. Ferruccio Rota, consigliere del Comune di Bergamo.

Iniziato lunedì 9 Ottobre e con termine giovedì 19 ottobre 2023, il Corso di Cultura Aeronautica prevede la partecipazione, su base volontaria ed a titolo gratuito, di 180 studenti delle scuole secondarie che hanno aderito all’iniziativa.

Il corso è suddiviso in due fasi: durante la prima settimana, incentrata sulla teoria, i giovani studenti seguono un ciclo di lezioni inerenti i principi dell’aerodinamica, gli strumenti di bordo e la sicurezza del volo, con accenni alla meteorologia e al controllo del traffico aereo.

Al termine della prima fase, gli studenti vengono sottoposti ad un test sulle competenze acquisite durante le lezioni, il cui punteggio contribuirà alla stesura di una graduatoria utile alla definizione dell’attività di volo, protagonista del programma della seconda settimana.

Durante la seconda fase, tutti gli studenti sperimenteranno presso l’aeroporto di Valbrembo l’esperienza di volo in formazione con l’aereo militare Siai S-208M.

Ad affiancare i ragazzi saranno i piloti istruttori di volo del 60° Stormo dell’Aeronautica Militare, che in base alla graduatoria raggiunta dagli studenti durante il corso, decideranno chi potra’ sedere come “co-pilota” o come passeggero.

Ai partecipanti verrà inoltre consegnato un attestato di frequenza utile all’acquisizione di un punteggio aggiuntivo valido per alcuni concorsi dell’Aeronautica Militare. Al termine del corso, ai due studenti che avranno raggiunto la massima graduatoria finale sarà consentito di partecipare ad uno stage della durata di una settimana presso il 60° Stormo di Guidonia, un’occasione unica per i ragazzi che potranno “vestire i panni” di un pilota dell’Aeronautica Militare ai comandi di un aliante Twin Astir.

Se per i ragazzi il corso è una occasione unica per sperimentare da vicino il mondo del volo, per l’Aeronautica Militare rappresenta un’opportunità per avvicinare le nuove generazioni al valore della nostra forza armata messa al servizio del paese.

I corsi di Cultura Aeronautica sono parte integrante del programma del centenario dell’Arma Azzurra, che lo scorso 28 Marzo ha festeggiato appunto i suoi primi cento anni. Proprio per questa occasione i velivoli SIAI S-208M sono stati rivestiti di una nuova livrea commemorativa ed utilizzati nell’ambito di alcune delle manifestazioni aeree previste per il 2023 e pensate per creare momenti di condivisione con i cittadini.

IN FLIGHT WITH THE ITALIAN AIR FORCE

Bergamo students, pilots for two weeks

Cultural educational initiative realized by the italian Air Force

We came back again to attend one of the Aeronautical Culture Courses organised by the 60° Stormo from Guidonia (RM), part of the program for the 100 years of our armed force and offered to students from various cities.  This time the event was organised for the students of the city of Bergamo and made possible by the cooperation between the Air Force, the School Office and the municipality of Bergamo.

The press conference about the event was held at Valbrembo airport and included speeches by the officers in charge (including Lt. Col. Simone De Paoli, Col. Michele Cesario, commander of the 60° Stormo, and Gen. Silvano Frigerio, commander of the Schools). Doing the honours were Sergio Capoferri, chairman of the airport, Prof. Emanuela Facheris, from the Territorial School Office and Dr. Ferruccio Rota, councilor of the municipality of Bergamo.

Started on Monday 9th October and ending on Thursday 19th October 2023, the Aeronautical Culture Course includes the participation, on a voluntary basis and free of charge, of 180 secondary school students who have joined the initiative.

The course is divided into two phases: during the first week, focused on theory, the young students attend a series of lessons on the principles of aerodynamics, on-board instruments and flight safety, with hints on meteorology and air traffic control.

At the end of the first phase, the students are subjected to a test on the skills acquired during the lessons, the score of which will contribute to prepare a ranking useful for the definition of the flight activity, the main one of the second week’s program.

During the second phase, all students will experience a formation flight experience with the Siai S-208M military aircraft at Valbrembo airport.

Supporting the guys will be the instructor pilots from the Air Force 60° Stormo, who, based on the ranking achieved during the course, will decide who will be allowed to sit as co-pilot or passenger.

Participants will also receive a certificate of attendance useful for acquiring an additional score valid for some Air Force competitions. At the end of the course, the two students with the highest final ranking will be allowed to take part in a one-week internship at the 60° Stormo of Guidonia, a unique opportunity for the youngsters to “step into the shoes” of an Air Force pilot at the controls of a Twin Astir glider.

If for young people the course is a unique opportunity to experience the world of flying up close, for the Air Force it represents an opportunity to introduce the new generations to the value of our armed force put at the service of the country.

The Aeronautical Culture courses are an integral part of the centenary program of the “Arma Azzurra”, which celebrated its first hundred years last 28th March. Just for this occasion, the SIAI S-208M aircraft were painted in a new commemorative livery and used in some of the air events planned for 2023 and designed to create moments of sharing with citizens.
