Corso di Cultura Aeronautica con il 60° Stormo – Venegono Inferiore (Varese) – QRA Aviation

QRA Aviation è tornata ad assistere ad uno dei Corsi di Cultura Aeronautica organizzati dal 60° Stormo di Guidonia (RM), parte del programma dei cento anni della Forza Armata ed offerti agli studenti di varie città. L’evento, organizzato questa volta con l’Ufficio Scolastico ed il Comune di Varese, ha avuto come sede l’ “Aeroclub di Varese” sull’aeroporto di Venegono Inferiore che ospita anche la sede di Leonardo Velivoli.

La conferenza stampa relativa all’evento si è svolta negli uffici di Leonardo ed ha visto gli interventi degli ufficiali responsabili (tra cui il Magg. Antonio Schifano, il Col. Michele Cesario, comandante del 60° Stormo e il Gen. di S.A. Silvano Frigerio, Comandante delle Scuole). A fare gli onori di casa, l’ingegnere Riccardo Busca di Leonardo ed a rappresentare le istituzioni, il sindaco di Varese Davide Galimberti e Debora Lonardi, Referente Provinciale per la Formazione Docenti. Era presente anche il presidente della Regione Lombardia, Attilio Fontana.

Dai vari contributi, è emersa l’importanza della scelta della provincia di Varese, vera e propria culla dell’aeronautica lombarda, sia dal punto di vista storico che industriale; del lavoro di Leonardo, come traino dell’economia lombarda e simbolo di studio continuo ed innovazione per il futuro; dello stretto rapporto tra Leonardo e la nostra Aeronautica, per la fornitura di sistemi sempre piu’ evoluti, conferma di eccellenza della nostra industria a livello internazionale; e dell’ opportunita’ di portare questa cultura aeronautica tra i licei e gli istituti, con l’intento di “creare passione” per il volo tra i ragazzi, che sono il nostro futuro. Non ultimo, della conferma che la scuola non è una cosa astratta, ma legata al territorio e alla vita tangibile di tutti i giorni, di cui questo corso è un esempio.

Alla fine della conferenza stampa è stata data la possibilità a vari giornalisti e responsabili media di effettuare un volo con i Siai S-208M dello Stormo.

Come in passato, il corso ha visto i ragazzi, piu’ di 120 provenienti da sette diversi istituti della provincia, impegnati per una settimana in aula (presso l’Universita’ degli Studi dell’Insubria ed il Salone Estense del comune di Varese), per lo studio di varie materie propedeutiche, aerodinamica, sicurezza del volo, meteorologia, controllo del traffico aereo e strumentazione, fra le altre. Un test effettuato alla fine dei corsi teorici ha stabilito una graduatoria fra i ragazzi ed ha portato ad una prima divisione tra “co-piloti” e “passeggeri”, a seconda delle relative caratteristiche attitudinali.

Nei giorni dal 15 al 17 maggio gli studenti hanno potuto vivere l’emozionante esperienza del volo in formazione sui velivoli ad elica Siai S-208M. Questo aereo è presente nella forza aerea dai tardi anni 60 ed è stato impiegato – e lo è tuttora – per compiti di addestramento, traino alianti e collegamento. Due degli aerei avevano una bella livrea celebrativa dei 100 anni della nostra “Arma Azzurra” e ci è stato detto che il reparto, con uno di questi aerei, sara’ invitato alla manifestazione aerea dell’ “International Air Tattoo” nel Regno Unito.

A tutti i ragazzi, nel corso di una cerimonia di chiusura, verra’ consegnato un attestato di frequenza e verra’ stilata una graduatoria finale. Anche qui, per i due studenti piu’ meritevoli sara’ offerto uno stage presso il 60° Stormo all’aeroporto di Guidonia per volare con un aliante Twin Astir.

Sicuramente, un modo per questi studenti di avvicinarsi ad un mondo emozionante come quello del volo e per la nostra Aeronautica, un’occasione per essere tra i giovani e renderli partecipi della cultura e dei valori della nostra Forza Armata, al servizio del paese.

Aeronautical Culture Course with 60° Stormo – Venegono inferiore (Varese)

QRA Aviation returned to attend one of the Aeronautical Culture Courses organized by the 60° Stormo from Guidonia (Rome), part of the 100th anniversary program of the Armed Force and offered to students from various cities. The event, organized this time with the School Office and Municipality of Varese, was held at the ‘Aeroclub di Varese” on the Venegono Inferiore airport, which also houses the headquarters of Leonardo Velivoli.

The press conference regarding the event was held in Leonardo’s offices and included speeches by the officers in charge (including Maj. Antonio Schifano, Col. Michele Cesario, commander of the 60° Stormo, and Gen. Silvano Frigerio, Commander of the Schools). Doing the honors was engineer Riccardo Busca of Leonardo and representing the institutions were Varese Mayor Davide Galimberti and Debora Lonardi, Provincial Representative for Teachers Training. The president of the Lombardy Region, Attilio Fontana, was also present.
From the various contributions, the importance of the choice of the province of Varese, a true cradle of Lombard aeronautics, both historically and industrially, emerged; of Leonardo’s work as a driving force for the Lombard economy and a symbol of continuous study and innovation for the future; of the close relationship between Leonardo and our Air Force, for the supply of increasingly advanced systems, a confirmation of excellence of our industry at international level; and of the opportunity to bring this aeronautical culture among high schools and institutes, with the intention of “creating passion” for flight among young people, who are our future. Last but not least, of the confirmation that school is not an abstract thing, but linked to the territory and tangible everyday life, of which this course is an example.
At the end of the press conference, various journalists and media representatives were given the opportunity to take a flight with the Stormo Siai S-208Ms.

As in the past, the course saw the guys, more than 120 from seven different institutes in the province, engaged for a week in the classroom (at the “Università degli Studi dell’ Insubria” and the “Salone Estense” of Varese town hall) to study various preparatory subjects, aerodynamics, flight safety, meteorology, air traffic control and instrumentation, among others. A test conducted at the end of the theoretical courses established a ranking among the students and led to an initial division between “co-pilots” and “passengers,” according to relative aptitude characteristics.
On May 15-17, the students had the exciting experience of formation flying on the Siai S-208M propeller-driven aircraft. This aircraft has been in the air force since the late 1960s and has been used – and still is – for training, glider towing and liaison duties. Two of the planes had a beautiful livery, celebrating 100 years of our “Arma Azzurra”, and we were told that the unit, with one of these planes, will be invited to the “International Air Tattoo” air show in the United Kingdom.

All the students will be given a certificate of attendance at a closing ceremony and a final ranking will be made. Again, for the two most deserving students, a stage will be offered at the 60° Stormo at Guidonia airport to fly a Twin Astir glider.
Definitely, a way for these students to get closer to such an exciting world as flying and for our Air Force, an opportunity to be among young people and make them participants in the culture and values of our Armed Force, serving the country.
