The F-22 Raptors arrive in Europe

Durante il mese di agosto, l’USAF ha schierato uno squadron di F-22A Raptor sulla base aerea di Spangdahlem, in Germania. I caccia di quinta generazione provengono dal 95° Fighter Squadron, 325° Fighter Wing basati a Tyndall AFB, in Florida.

I raptor, arrivati ​​l’8 agosto, sono rimasti in Europa per alcune settimane e hanno svolto normale attività addestrativa, congiunta a missioni con velivoli di altri paesi membri della NATO.  L’integrazione tra i caccia  USA e quelli Europei, consentirà alla coalizione di mantenere il vantaggio nella superiorità aerea, integrando le capacità della flotta di quarta generazione.

Gli F-22 hanno infatti visitato diverse nazioni, il 10 agosto la Grecia, operando da Larissa AB,  il 15 agosto è stato il turno della Polonia, dove oltre all’attività addestrativa con i Falcon polacchi, 4 Raptor ed un F-16 hanno sorvolato i cieli di Varsavia durante le celebrazioni per il  100 ° anniversario della Forza  Aérea polaccha. Il giorno dopo, il 16 agosto, sono atterrati in Spagna sulla Los Llanos Air Base ad Albacete per addestrarsi con gli Eurofighter dell’Aeronautica Spagnola. Inoltre 2 Raptor hanno svolto operazioni di rifornimento in volo e addestramento, congiunte con due F-35A norvegesi.

L’attività di volo è stata assai intensa, con diverse sortite giornaliere, ed ha impegnato praticamente tutti i 13 F-22A rischierai sulla base aerea tedesca accompagnati dagli F-16CJ del 52°FW stanziato a Spangdahlem e dai KC-135R del 100°ARW  che hanno garantito il supporto alle missioni nei cieli dei paesi alleati e alle missioni con gli F-16 locali. Le attività di volo hanno avuto termine il 29 Agosto 2018 con il rientro di tutti gli aerei alla loro base negli Stati Uniti.

During August, USAF deployed a squadron of F-22A Raptor on the Spangdahlem air base in Germany. The fifth generation fighters come from the 95th Fighter Squadron, 325th Fighter Wing based in Tyndall AFB, Florida.
The raptors, which arrived on 8 August, remained in Europe for a few weeks and carried out normal training activities, together with missions with aircraft from other NATO member countries.  The integration between US and European fighters will allow the coalition to maintain its advantage in air superiority, integrating the capacities of the fourth generation fleet.
F-22 visited several countries, on August 10 Greece, operating from Larissa AB, August 15 was the turn of Poland, where in addition to training with the Polish Falcon, 4 Raptors and an F-16 have flown over the skies of Warsaw during the celebrations for the 100th anniversary of the Polish Armed Forces. The day after Poland, on August 16, they landed in Spain on the Los Llanos Air Base in Albacete to train with the Eurofighters of the Spanish Air Force. In addition, 2 Raptor carried out refuelling operations in flight and training, together with two Norwegian F-35As.
The flight activity was very intense, with different daily sorties, and involved practically all the 13 F-22As you will sail on the German air base accompanied by the F-16CJ of the 52°FW allocated to Spangdahlem and the KC-135R of the 100°ARW that guaranteed the support to the missions in the skies of the allied countries and to the missions with the local F-16. Flight activities ended on 29 August 2018 with the return of all aircraft to their base in the United States.
