FRISIAN FLAG 2018

Tra il 9 e il 20 aprile ( come ogni anno, all’incirca in questo periodo ), è in atto una grande esercitazione militare presso la base aerea di Leeuwarden nei Paesi Bassi. L’esercitazione prende il nome di Frisian Flag.

Gli aerei partecipanti all’edizione del 2018 provengono da ben 7 nazioni ( Olanda – paese ospitante, USA, UK, Germania, Polania, Francia, Spagna ) e lo scopo di tale esercitazione è la preparazione congiunta ad operazioni aria-aria e aria-suolo che nei complessi scenari di combattimento odierni diventa fondamentale tra i diversi paesi alleati.
Ogni nazione parla una lingua diversa ma è altre sì importante che tutti parlino lo stesso linguaggio e seguano le stesse procedure regole di ingaggio durante le situazioni di conflitto. Ci sono già stati in passato operazioni su larga scala, come Libia, Afghanistan, Iraq che hanno richiesto un alto grado di cooperazione. Grazie ad esercitazioni come la Frisian Flag è possibile addestrare i vari reparti operativi di diverse nazioni a reali azioni di combattimento congiunte.

Durante questo evento sono state predisposte alcune aree nello spazio aereo olandese dove i partecipanti si addestrano al combattimento. Questi spazi chiamati TRA01- TRA02-TRA03…fino al numero 10, sono posizionati sopra il Mare del Nord e lo spazio aereo è limitato da terra fino a 55000 piedi / FL550 (= 16,8 km) in altezza. Oltre a ciò, vi sono altre due aree, quella di Cornfield insieme all’area di Marnewaard che sono state attivate per la pratica air-to-ground.

L’esercitazione conta di due ondate giornaliere di circa 50 aeromobili ognuna.

Between 9 and 20 April (as every year, approximately at this time), a major military exercise is being carried out at the Leeuwarden air base in the Netherlands. The exercise is called Frisian Flag.
The planes participating in the 2018 edition are from 7 countries (Holland – host country, USA, UK, Germany, Poland, France, Spain) and the purpose of this exercise is the joint preparation for air-to-air and air-to-ground operations that in today’s complex combat scenarios becomes fundamental between the different allied countries.
Each country speaks a different language but it is also important that everyone speaks the same language and follows the same procedures, rules of engagement during conflict situations. There have already been large-scale operations in the past, such as Libya, Afghanistan, Iraq, which have required a high degree of cooperation. Exercises such as the Frisian Flag enable the various operational departments of different countries to be trained in real joint combat actions.
During this event, some areas in Dutch airspace were set up where participants train in combat. These spaces called TRA01- TRA02-TRA03…up to number 10, are located above the North Sea and the airspace is limited by land up to 55000 feet / FL550 (= 16.8 km) in height. In addition, there are two other areas, Cornfield and Marnewaard, which have been activated for air-to-ground practice.

The exercise has two daily waves of about 50 aircraft each.
