16 Ottobre 2021 – 3º Stormo Verona Villafranca, visita delle Frecce Tricolori – QRA Aviation

Questo weekend di metà ottobre 2021 ha visto svolgersi la manifestazione aerea di Thiene, organizzata per celebrare il centenario dalla trasvolata Roma – Tokio, ideata da Gabriele D’Annunzio ed effettuata tra il febbraio e maggio del 1920 da Arturo Ferrarin, nativo proprio della cittadina veneta, e da Guido Masiero.

(Su 11 equipaggi, Ferrarin e il suo motorista furono gli unici a completare questo raid utilizzando esclusivamente il loro aereo, un biplano Ansaldo S.V.A. 9, scrivendo sicuramente una pagina memorabile della storia dell’aviazione)

La manifestazione ha visto la partecipazione di numerosi velivoli storici e da acrobazia, oltre ad avvalersi della presenza della nostra Aeronautica, con elicotteri SAR, vari addestratori SIAI ed alcuni dei nostri caccia di punta, come AMX ed Eurofighter. Dulcis in fundo, l’immancabile e atteso intervento delle Frecce Tricolori.

Il covid purtroppo ha influenzato pesantemente le apparizioni pubbliche della nostra pattuglia acrobatica e l’airshow di Thiene è stato l’unico confermato del programma 2021 (oltre alla festa per i 60 anni del reparto svoltasi a Rivolto in settembre).

Il reparto si è rischierato per l’occasione a Villafranca (VR) ed è qui che abbiamo potuto assistere alle operazioni di preparazione, decollo e successivo rientro della formazione.

Una volta scesi dai loro velivoli, i piloti si sono prestati di buon grado – con molta pazienza – a posare per le foto di rito con molti bambini ed appassionati presenti per l’occasione. Vista la “durata” di questa incombenza, potremmo quasi dire che, per loro, sia stata questa la fatica maggiore ….

This mid-October 2021 weekend saw the Thiene air show take place, organized to celebrate the centennial of the long distance flight from Rome to Tokyo, conceived by Gabriele D’Annunzio and carried out between February and May 1920 by Arturo Ferrarin, a native of the Venetian town and by Guido Masiero.

(Out of 11 crews, Ferrarin and his engineer were the only ones to complete this raid using exclusively their aircraft, an Ansaldo S.V.A. 9 biplane, certainly writing a memorable page in the history of aviation)

The event saw the participation of numerous historical and aerobatic aircraft, as well as those of our Air Force, with SAR helicopters, various SIAI trainers and some of our flagship fighters, such as the AMX and the Eurofighter. Last but not least, the certain, waited attendance of the Frecce Tricolori.

The covid unfortunately heavily affected the public appearances of our aerobatic team and the Thiene airshow was the only confirmed one of the 2021 program (besides the show held at Rivolto in September for the 60th anniversary of the unit)

The team had deployed for the occasion at Villafranca (VR) airbase and it is here that we were able to witness their pre-light preparation, take-off and subsequent return of the formation. Once they got off their aircraft, the pilots willingly agreed – with a lot of patience – to pose for the usual photos with many children and enthusiasts present for the occasion. Given the “duration” of this commitment, we could almost say that, for them, this was the greatest effort….
